And then I guess maybe we could come back 20 years later? But my brother in Ohio and daughter in Michigan are 4000 kilometers from Las Vegas, so I could forego Thailand and visit them once every 5 years....I guess I'd have to wait 5 years to return. Gosh that's a depressing thought, instead of bi-annual trips, it would be bi-lifetime trips...It is lunacy, but, anecdotally, I heard about a teenaged lad in the UK who refused to go on holiday with his family unless they travelled by rail (to Europe). Reluctantly, they scrapped their flight plans and all went along with it.
I can somewhat understand it on extremely short haul flights, but these preferences are chosen by indivduals based on distance, needs, time restrictions and other things. I wouldn't mind taking a holiday train through Europe with a sleeper car it sounds lovely. A busy parent on a business trip doesn't have the same ideas. It's central planning, which always fails...
