That's the key: The people who chomped like bass on the psyop were the ones who felt important because of it. Like they mattered. That never happened to them before. Their vices had never been virtues. Their fear, incuriosity, refusal to stand up for themselves, and terror of psychological independence had always made their lives a misery. Overnight, the psyop made their personal failings into more than mere virtue: It was heroism.
