It's beautiful that your wife's family celebrates and honors the dead in such a manner. Writing on Substack for me absolutely respresented a need to not go crazy during a time when facemask frenzy in Phuket had turned me into a near total outcast from society in late 2021. The comments and feedback I have gotten on here have allowed me to evolve my writing and thoughts in ways that would never have been possible before.

This old world is ending in real time. Keep close to those you hold dear...

It was interesting sharing notes with you in the comments on the madness of Phuket vs Bangkok during 2022 madness - culminating in the U-turn on "it puts the needle in the skin or it can't come back in" (to the country). Thank goodness they U-turned on that - whilst I was literally in mid-air, and you were Stateside, if I recall. I agree that the comments from readers help with ideas, writing style, info-sharing, and always new breadcrumbs and rabbit holes!

Even if I get rug-pulled with all my worldly possessions, financial wealth, and assets in 'The Great Taking' - I will still have the real wealth of an incredibly loving family - x 2! Thai family and and English family. Wishing you a happy Songkran Amy.

I feel for you. My Dad passed in April too. 30th in 1974. It will be 50 years since that happened this year. I too miss him, the pain is gone. Only good memories now.

Funny that i seem to be one of the first to see your postings ( and i am not on the laptop every minute of the day ) . So, often i am one of the first to comment . As can be expected , my "positive" comments are well received .... while my "why don't y'all just pick up a shovel and do something" posts are , i expect, given the same treatment one would when walking up to an overweight person and asking ( all too bluntly in this pc society) ...... " so, who ya gonna blame for YOUR physical condition"

BTAIM ( so.......) ..... i judge first and foremost , by what i feel from others. Below the surface . And, I do think Nicholas is one of not so many, that are following the path less followed . And, some brains and a good heart . Wish you continued good health and the strength to not stray from your convictions.
