This was wonderful and Hi Ren is an incredible song to go with it. Meditation does me a great deal of good there were some very dark days for me especially in 2021. I agree that it is a pendulum, which would imply that it is going to begin swinging back fast. One can only hope
Thanks Amy, good to know you are also an advocate of meditation, or 'sam-a-tee' as the Thais would say it. I am ever hopeful for the pendulum to swing back towards the light for global expanded consciousness. We can all will that into being.
Thank you for this. I struggle to find the balance. I feel I’m fighting for my children’s future and the ability to set it all aside and enjoy the time we have. To be present. It’s lonely. Although my misery doesn’t love company, there is something to not feeling all alone.
I understand. If ignorance is bliss, then awareness is pain. Just because you feel lonely, doesn't mean you are alone - this piece from OffG may resonate with you too:
I was like you were, thinking that meditation was nothing but some dandy bullshit until I actually tried it. The experience absolutely blew my mind, will never forget the first time I had zero thoughts running through my head, my inner voice start rejoicing like he had been released from prison, which he was. The power hungry psychopaths who hold power do not want people to experience such a liberating feeling so they continuously pump propaganda out to the masses, keeps them in line and focused solely on the outer world so they cannot find out there's a much better reality out there if they have the strength and courage to look within.
Yes, regular meditation is psychologically and spiritually protective. It can help people endure the darkest times. Makes people begin to look inwards instead of outsourcing their opinions to 'experts' and believing absurdities.
Nicholas, this is wonderful! Thank you. I sincerely feel that this Substack should be read by everyone who gravitates to the inner sanctuary of their own truth and authority--as the Buddha advocated. As a Dharma practitioner, I can't hold back from saying, that the only reality is now, and that once we deeply know, live and honor this, the future is ours to create. Connecting to the natural resources we have within us, and available to us, human resources we all share, brings our "Presence" alive with heart, love and community. . . Blessings to You and a Happy Song Kran!
Thank you Hillary, that's a nice message. I think more people are beginning to question the nature of their reality and how they interact with it. Sawadee bee mai to you too!
That's a nice motivation, I've often wondered what my grandparents would make of these past few years, if they were still around. I'd like to think they'd have seen through it. I miss their wisdom so much.
WOW, great article Nicholas, and the perfect intro to the 9-minute 'song' by REN featured at the end of the article. It is nothing less than an emotional sledgehammer. Never did I came across a piece that describes the fights in your soul between dark and light, as vividly as in this song (more a parlando on music).
I appreciate such positive feedback Peter. I only just heard the song for the first time last week - I immediately decided it was time to write this piece. I hope people aren't put off by the length of the song, well worth staying to the end eh...
Absolutely! The last 2 minutes with REN speaking in the camera about his struggle are beyond words > The more intensely the Light shines, the darker the shadow it casts

สวัสดีปีใหม่ to you as well!

I'm focusing on genealogy for exactly this reason. Reconnecting with relatives provides a feeling of belonging.

Yes, people were saner then. Hell, they were saner just three years ago.

A true masterpiece, if you can bear it.
I am still shaking after hearing it...
